Pathology, Anatomical Pathology - Monash Medical Centre Clayton, Melbourne
A full time position exists for a Grade 1 Scientist in our Anatomical Pathology Department at Monash Medical Centre.
You must have a Bachelor of Applied Science (MLS) or recognised equivalent with experience in Histopathology and/or Cytology. Be able to perform all tests provided by the unit without supervision (following suitable training) which include:
1. Perform routine duties in the Histopathology laboratory in accordance with the laboratory staff roster.
2. Perform and assist with the specimen cut up.
3. Responsible for the satisfactory labelling, processing, and paraffin embedding of biopsy and necropsy specimens.
4. Prepare paraffin sections of biopsy and necropsy specimens.
5. Prepare frozen sections for urgent diagnosis.
6. Perform routine, special staining and immunohistochemistry techniques using prescribed methodologies and appropriate control procedures.
7. Assist at renal biopsy procedure to insure appropriate tissue sampling
8. Prepare cytology specimens using prescribed methodologies procedures.
9. Other duties as directed.
The successful candidate is expected to participate in staff rotations and overtime as directed.

Histopathology Demonstrator -Casual Position 4hrs
RMIT University, School of Medical Sciences
Due to a dramatic increase in student numbers studying the Histopathology major we are looking for demonstrators for Histopathology 2 on Mondays for 12 weeks from the 27th February at 10:30-12:30 and 1:30-3:30.
An understanding of normal histology, pathology and experience with IHC, ISH and special stains would be desirable.
Only accepting applicants with the RMIT University Laboratory Medicine degree or equivalent qualification.
