Healthscope Pathology, one of the leading healthcare companies in Australia, is seeking a Scientific Head of Department to manage the Histology team at the Sydney laboratory.
Job Description:
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced medical scientist to take up the role of scientific and management head of a busy histology laboratory. The successful applicant will have a sound theoretical knowledge of all technical aspects of a histology laboratory. The position encompasses supervision, training, process review and improvement, documentation and maintenance of a quality assurance program. Experience in the management or supervision of a high quality histopathology service in a high workload environment would be an advantage.
Selection Criteria:
Essential -
· Extensive practical experience in all aspects of laboratory histology
· Sound theoretical knowledge of histopathology
· Demonstrated ability to maintain an efficient and team-oriented work environment
· Demonstrated active participation in maintenance of laboratory quality assurance processes
· Demonstrated involvement in training and process improvement
· Ability to work effectively with histopathologists and histotypists
· Good communication skills.
Preferred -
Experience in management and supervision of a high workload histology laboratory
